Collaborate with teachers, participate in professional development, maintain safety/behavior expectations, communicate with families, and perform assigned duties to support student learning and wellbeing.
Position Description
The primary role of the 1:1 Aide is to support scholars who need additional support in and outside of the classroom according to their IEP. This could include wheel chair assistance, toileting, lunch/snacks, small group instruction, push-in classroom support, and curriculum modification, etc. The ideal candidate should have experience working with students with disabilities and additional physical support needs.
Job Responsibilities
• Assist scholars who need additional support in and outside the classroom. This could include wheel chair assistance, toileting, lunch/snacks, etc.
• Collaborate with scholars' general education and RSP teacher
• Facilitate reading intervention, small group instruction and pull out groups
• Conduct academic assessments
• Provide instruction in various drills and activities using learning strategies designed to introduce, reinforce, or modify skills
• Actively participate in professional development aimed at refining both school culture and academics
• Assist teachers during the school day with instruction, oversight, and supervision of students
• Follow policies and procedures for health, safety, and nutrition
• Maintain high behavioral expectations for scholar behavior at all times and enforce Equitas Academy’s positive discipline policies
• Maintain open lines of communication with staff, parents, and other stakeholders
• May provide adaptive supports with eating and toileting
• Perform other duties as assigned
Qualifications:
• AA degree or equivalent required
• BA degree preferred
• Knowledge and experience in ABA
• Criminal clearance, including fingerprints and TB Test
• Previous experience working with and supervising children
• Bilingual English/Spanish preferred
• Current CPR and 1st Aid Certificate within 3 months of employment
Salary:
Starting at $23/hour. This is a full-time, hourly position with benefits.
