Provides front desk, reception, clerical, customer service, scheduling, payment processing, mail distribution, and physical and electronic records support. Prepares basic correspondence, reports, and forms; operates standard office equipment; responds to general veteran inquiries; and assists National Service Officers under direct supervision.

Trains to become a National Service Officer representing veterans and families in disability claims and benefits matters before the Department of Veterans Affairs and other government entities. Reviews service and medical records, interviews claimants, evaluates evidence, prepares claim submissions, monitors cases, explains appeal options, and practices presenting legal arguments at hearings. The apprentice also manages workload, communicates with stakeholders, recruits DAV members, and performs administrative and outreach activities under ongoing supervision.

Trains to become a National Service Officer representing veterans and families in disability claims and benefits matters before the Department of Veterans Affairs and other government entities. Responsibilities include studying applicable laws, interviewing claimants, reviewing service and medical records, preparing claim submissions and briefs, monitoring cases, advising on appeals, presenting arguments at hearings, managing workloads, recruiting members, and conducting outreach and administrative activities.
