The culture at First Entertainment Credit Union comes down to community — both internally, in how employees and their families are treated, and externally, through the creative community that the credit union serves.

Just ask Maria Okafor, community relationship specialist, who notes that her employer encourages employees to take time off, leadership listens to feedback and the entire team gets behind community events that the company sponsors.

“It’s clear they genuinely care about their employees. Overall, it’s a fantastic place to work,” Okafor said.

Built In spoke with Okafor about how First Entertainment Credit Union supports its employees and its members for the long haul.

In one memorable line, how would you describe day-to-day satisfaction on your team?

Working with my team is genuinely enjoyable. We collaborate well, support each other and make every day positive.

Would you recommend working here — and what proof backs that up?

I would absolutely recommend working here. I’ve been with First Entertainment for 13 years and they’ve consistently treated me very well. They offer excellent health benefits for my entire family, along with a great 401(K), life insurance and generous PTO. This is a company that truly encourages employees to use their time off and enjoy life. I also receive merit and performance based raises, along with bonuses, they truly value me and reward hard work. In addition, they host many fun activities for employees, including events where you can bring your family. They also value our opinions and consistently ask for feedback. It’s clear they genuinely care about their employees, and overall, it’s a fantastic place to work.

How are you perceived externally right now and what signals support that?

Externally, we are perceived as a strong community focused organization that actively supports creators and the entertainment industry. This is reflected through our involvement in film festivals, where we host panels and engage with creative professionals. These efforts, along with positive feedback and ongoing community engagement, demonstrate our commitment to supporting both our members and the broader creative community.
