We spend a third of our lives in bed, here’s a brand you need to know about.

Think about it, if we spend about a third of our lives sleeping, that means that by the time you turn 30, you will have spent about 10 years of your life asleep. And on top of it, how much sleep do you think you’ve lost from merely thinking about what kind of bedding to buy, where to buy it, studying thread counts, different types of fabrics, etc. Let’s face it, buying bedding can be a nightmare.

Parachute, a new startup recently invested in by top accelerator Launchpad LA, makes buying luxury bedding an easy breezy no fuss experience. Designed in LA, manufactured in Italy, and selling directly online, Parachute allows customers to buy a product that would typically retail for $400-$800 in stores, for less than half the price. Their vertically integrated e-commerce platform aims to deliver premium quality bedding at affordable prices, including bundle options without a top sheet to accommodate the often neglected 40% of Americans who don’t even use one. Parachute also uses flat pricing, regardless of bed size, to make shopping easier for their customers. They currently offer three bundle options ranging in price from $129-$249 per bundle.

Americans spend 26 billion dollars on home textiles per year. Eight billion of those dollars are spent on bedding alone. The good news for Parachute is there is a 20-30% Year-Over-Year growth of home goods online. Even more interesting is the myth of the thread count and lack of transparency that currently exists in the industry.

Conventional wisdom has taught us that the higher the thread count the better the quality, when in fact there are many other factors besides thread count that determine sheet quality and comfort. “Most people think thread count is the standard for luxury, but it’s actually just a marketing ploy”, says Ariel Kaye, Founder of Parachute. “We focus on the fabric and creating a product of the highest quality and hope to help educate the public by being clear so they can feel more confident in their purchase.”

After leaving her job in advertising earlier this year to focus full time on Parachute, Kaye led a successful presale event held in July that led to five figures in sales. Inspired by the movement of the fabric when you make your bed, the name Parachute also can be associated with everything from designer handbags to skydivers. No more nightmares about buying bedding, with an official launch coming soon, get ready to grab your Parachute and dive into a bed of luxury.
