Applications for Viterbi Startup Garage, USC’s technology accelerator, are now open to give 10 LA-based startups a spot in the competitive summer accelerator. Viterbi Startup Garage, a 12-week program out of USC’s Viterbi School of Engineering, offers startups $50,000 in funding, office space and mentorship from some of LA’s top venture capital firms and entrepreneurs.

Opened in May 2013, the program provides startups a unique opportunity to work with the best engineering talent (USC is the second-largest engineering school in the country and a top 10 engineering school). Viterbi is open to startups that have at least one founder from USC’s Viterbi School of Engineering.

Ashish Soni, Executive Director of Digital Innovation and Founding Director of the Viterbi Student Innovation Institute at the USC Viterbi School of Engineering, launched the program last year to give startups engineering expertise so they could later raise money.

"Getting these companies venture-backed, that’s really the ultimate metric for us," Soni said in 2013. "How many companies can we create that are able to raise capital, build large teams and build innovative products, and then disrupt different markets? That’s our ultimate metric, helping build large technology, engineering-backed companies."

The summer session opens June 9 in Marina Del Rey. Apply through June 4 here.
