True Digital Surgery, a company specializing in digital, robotic-assisted 3D surgical microscopy, has been acquired by German medical technology company B. Braun Group, which already held a minority stake in the company, for an undisclosed amount.

According to a news release, the acquisition marks a new chapter for TDS, which will continue operating as a dedicated technology and innovation hub in Goleta.

The company said the move strengthens collaboration between TDS and Aesculap, B. Braun’s surgical division, particularly around the development of the Aesculap AEOS digital surgical microscope, used in neurosurgery, spinal procedures and ENT surgery.

“The combination of our groundbreaking technologies with B. Braun’s access to the global healthcare market represents an incomparable opportunity for both companies to further improve the lives of patients and medical professionals the world over,” former TDS CEO Aidan Foley said in a statement.
