The holidays are almost here! If you haven’t skipped town yet, check out these great events for the tech startup community in LA this week.

1. Introduction to User Experience Design and Usability. This class aims to demystify UX by giving a practical and simple introduction to what UX is while also explaining some of its core concepts of usability.

2. Building a Data Science Program as NASA/JPL with Visual Analytics. This talk with Rob Witoff, IT Data Scientist at the NASA Jet Propulsion Laboratory and a Y Combinator startup founder, will focus on how how JPL is building a new data science team using cloud based visual analytics to resolve mysteries whose questions & answers lay hidden in our data.

3. Entrepreneur Social. It's time to get your million dollar idea off the ground - are you ready? Meet other motivated entrepreneurial students, startups from nearby Silicon Beach, and be a part of the UCLA entrepreneurial community.

4. Carbon 5 Hack Night. Carbon Five LA bi-weekly, intimate hack night for developers who want to code and collaborate for a couple of hours after work. Bring your own project or work with someone else. Developers of all experience levels are welcome. There will be at least a couple Carbon Five folks around to help out.
