1) Ways to accelerate your startup and meet other entrepreneurs:  The NEXT program by Startup Weekend is coming back to LA in October and as a preview, we're going to do a free meet-and-greet at Coloft in Santa Monica with the coordinators, entrepreneurs already enrolled. We'll talk about "customer discovery" and its role in accelerating your startup. Come get some free info, and meet some cool people.

2) Teach yourself how to code: Are you interested in learning how to code in your spare time, but overwhelmed by the massive amount of books and online resources available? Join us for a session that breaks down some of the popular online coding courses and tutorials, and helps you find the best path for your learning style, availability, and budget.

3) LA Tech Happy Hour Downtown: Hey DTLAers and outliers (like you in Silver Lake, Los Feliz, Studio City, Echo Park, Atwater Village, Glendale, Hollywood, etc.)!  Here it is -- we're back and representing tech in DTLA!  Come on out, share a brewskie with a friend or two and meet some more like minded techies.  Instead of whisps of the beachy air we'll enjoy the sounds of horns out on the street, pleasantries of DTLA!

4) Hack night @ Carbon 5 LA:  Carbon Five LA bi-weekly, intimate hack night for developers who want to code and collaborate for a couple of hours after work. Bring your own project or work with someone else. Developers of all experience levels are welcome. There will be at least a couple Carbon Five folks around to help out.

5) Co-founders wanted in healthcare & life sciences: The Society of Physician Entrepreneurs and CoFoundersLab proudly present an educational and networking forum for entrepreneurs in healthcare and life sciences. Our speaker this evening will be Dr. Kourosh Parsapour. Dr. Parsapour is the co-founder and CEO of 5plus, which is dedicated to developing digital health tools which bring efficiency solutions to physical therapy.

6) JOINT Scale LA/ LAPHP: Basho's Andy Gross presents The Free Lunch is Over, Again: Andy will discuss the resurgence in interest in both theoretical and applied distributed systems, explore new areas of promising research, and provide practical advice for dealing with systems in our new distributed world.
