In the week's least surprising news — Snoop Dogg is launching a weed lifestyle website.
Calvin Broadus (AKA Snoop Dogg) and LA entrepreneur Ted Chung announced their new cannabis content site, Merry Jane, at TechCrunch Disrupt on Monday.
The site will feature original content and information for weed smokers, including their inaugural video series dubbed "Deflowered" in which people describe a new experience they had while high.
Merry Jane is not the first site to embrace cannabis culture. Sites like Colorado's MassRoots have been pandering news to red-eyed readers for years. But Snoop's focus on original content creation and his weed-icon status will give Merry Jane a strong initial marketing boost.
This isn't Snoop's first rodeo in the tech sphere. His VC fund, Casa Verde Capital, has invested in many weed-oriented startups including the pot delivery app Eaze.
Leading a cannabis content creation site should be a natural fit for Snoop. His blunt-filled GGN (Double G News Network) YouTube videos are consistent viral hits, including his Game of Thrones recap with Seth Rogen:
