Events For LA Startups This Week

There's so much going on all over Los Angeles this week! Here's the top highlights for the week.

1. NEXT LA by Startup Weekend. The NEXT program by Startup Weekend is coming back to LA October 14th. NEXT was created by Steve Blank and Google for Entrepreneurs. It is a 3 hour, part-time program for five weeks to build the skills and tactics your startup needs to prepare for an accelerator, investor, or early product launch. You can check out their homepage to learn about each week's focus.

2. The Do’s and Don’ts of Pitching to VCs. Fundraising is a grueling process for entrepreneurs. Learn more about this process from the VC’s perspective, but also share insights into what investors are looking for, how to prepare for pitch meetings, and, more importantly, what not to do when meeting them. Learn specific tips on what to include (and exclude) from your pitch decks all the way to the subtle nuances to be aware of when fundraising.

3. LAVA at the Beach. Join LAVA and its friends for the fifth annual LAVA at the Beach networking event at the Marion Davies House - Annenberg Community Beach House in Santa Monica. This networking event is for the Venture community in Southern California. In attendance will be Venture Capital Partners and Angel Investors for over 20 firms. Also mix and mingle with Entrepreneurs and Start-up company representatives from over 100 companies.

4. Hack Night @ Carbon 5 LA. Carbon Five LA bi-weekly, intimate hack night for developers who want to code and collaborate for a couple of hours after work. Bring your own project or work with someone else. Developers of all experience levels are welcome. There will be at least a couple Carbon Five folks around to help out.

5. SM New Tech Meetup October 2013. 7 new tech startup companies will present their products and technology.

6. USC Viterbi Startup Garage Demo Day. 10 teams will showcase their entrepreneurial ventures to an audience of investors, innovators, students and entrepreneurs. Presentations will be followed by a reception in the patio.

Have a great week, Los Angeles!
