Hyperloop, the LA-based high-speed transportation innovator, announced today they have named Rob Lloyd as their CEO.

Lloyd was most recently President of Cisco until he resigned on June 1st. He will replace Hyperloop co-founder Brogan BamBrogan who will move to CTO and continue to have one of the most incredible names in the business.

"After spending 10 years as an entrepreneur, followed by 20 years growing up in a small company called Cisco that became big and changed the world, I am fired up by the opportunity to change the world again," Lloyd said in a statement posted on Hyperloop's site. "I knew I wanted 'in' from the first time I visited and watched as the first full size tubes were delivered. I knew at that moment that this was going to be big, this was exciting, this was really happening, and I had to be part of it. Hyperloop is the transportation revolution of the 21st century - truly the fifth mode of transport. It will be the most efficient transportation network the world has ever seen."

Lloyd also announced that Emily West, formerly COO of Snapchat and an ex-Facebook executive, will be joining Hyperloop's board as an observer and that the company is seeking an $80 million Series B.

The Hyperloop team now has 50 full time employees and has a 55,000 square foot office in the downtown LA Arts District. The company has no affiliation with Elon Musk's SpaceX, who's site says they are only "interested in helping to accelerate development of a functional Hyperloop prototype."
