Plants Vs. Zombies & Merchandise

In a great article from [a]listdaily, PopCap's franchise business director, Tony Leamer is quoted as saying: “Building Plants vs. Zombies as an entertainment brand is a huge focus for us, it starts with great games, we can never lose focus on creating amazing game experiences.  Any game experience that has the Plants vs. Zombies name on it is going to be something we need to be proud of and excited about, so it starts with that.  You’ve seen the first forays into developing this as a broader entertainment brand as we move towards merchandising, so you’re seeing the first iterations of that.”

P vs.Z 2 has set records in the iOS App store with 25 million downloads so it’s really great to see a game publisher that gets the tremendous branding opportunity of merchandise.  PopCap is now able to connect with their current and future fans outside of the game, which drives loyalty and brand awareness like nothing else.
