A quarter of the way through the season, the Dodgers are in first place and appear to be headed towards a successful season. The organization now hopes their other summer endeavour sees the same success.
The Dodgers Accelerator with R/GA will be holding an open house on June 3rd at Cross Campus. The event will showcase Dodgers Sports & Entertainment Accelerator with R/GA and feature a panel moderated by Built In LA’s own, Mike Sharifi.
The panel will consist of Dodgers owner, Peter Gruber; DraftKings founder, Jason Robins; Global Managing Partner for R/GA Ventures, Stephen Plumlee; and Managing Director for Guggenheim Baseball Management, Tucker Kain.
Before the panel, the event will provide an opportunity to meet LA’s sports technology community and discuss technologies that can help America’s pastime.
“People gravitate towards wearable tech, but the beauty of the platform is the scope and the breadth of products and technologies that we can partner with,” Tucker Kain said. “We’re interested across the spectrum from content delivery, fan engagement, smart arenas, injury diagnostics, all the way to virtual reality and eSports.”
The accelerator has extended its application deadline to June 29th. The official move-in day is August 17th with demo day in early November.
“There’s a huge amount of application activity already, which is great,” said Stephen Plumlee. “Our definition of sports in the focus of the program is very broad and we’re seeing application from a wide range of categories.”
The long term goal of the accelerator is bringing the Dodgers into LA’s rapidly growing tech scene.
“The Dodgers are a citizen and a member of the LA community,” said Kain. “And I thinks it’s important to create an environment in which economic development can be fostered and grown.”
