The funding will help Metacloud ramp up growth while simultaneously furthering innovation efforts and worldwide expansion.

The company’s Carbon|OS private cloud solution, which is based on Openstack, is in high demand, which Metacloud plans to use this funding to meet. Using a client’s existing hardware, Carbon|OS software provides an on-premise private cloud system that’s cheaper than other private cloud systems and more secure than public options. This makes rapid scaling not only possible, but relatively affordable.

“Our focus is entirely on delivering private clouds to the enterprise, and we're laser-focused on doing this better than anyone else,” said Metacloud co-founder and President Steve Curry in a statement.

Curry and his co-founder and CEO, Sean Lynch, gained infrastructure engineering experience through former positions at Yahoo! and Ticketmaster, which they draw on to deliver cloud services that best serve their customers.

The message ‘Do more with what you already have,’ is really appealing to most CIOs, and that's what we offer. They're leveraging Carbon|OS to drive efficiency on their existing hardware,” Curry says.

Not only does Metacloud offer a unique approach to enterprise-level cloud solutions, Carbon|OS comes with round the clock support, with Metacloud’s in-house team doing everything from monitoring performance to troubleshooting to fixing problems.

"Cloud is a promising technology, but enterprises that are serious about adopting it have surprisingly few options. A number of cloud ventures are selling variations of the same solution,” said Yahoo! Inc. co-founder Jerry Yang, who now heads AME Cloud Ventures. “Metacloud, however, is coming at the problem in an entirely unique way, and we think it’s going to resonate with CIOs seeking the simplicity of public cloud and the security advantages of private cloud.”
