Aligned TeleHealth, an Agoura Hills-based company focused on providing specialized video chat between medical providers and patients in areas without in-person access, has just received two new angel investments.
Deepak Chopra, the CEO and founder of electronic healthcare solutions supplier OSI Systems, Inc., and Hector Sulaiman, the CEO of Mexico City’s Controles Graficos healthcare materials manufacturer, have made investments and will join Aligned TeleHealth's board of directors.
The company currently provides communications between hospitals and remote physicians via an interactive and two-way video service and plans to use the new capital to grow several initiatives.
“With Chopra and Sulaiman as our newest investors and also serving as advisors to Aligned TeleHealth, we believe the next chapter in our company’s evolution is upon us,” Nitin Nanda, M.D., chief executive officer of Aligned TeleHealth, said in a statement. “We are entering a pivotal stage with respect to gaining significant traction in urban and rural markets by serving an increase in patient visits to acute and critical care hospitals, especially emergency rooms, following the Affordable Care Act.”
The amount of funding was not disclosed and Aligned TeleHealth did not respond to requests for comment. It is evident, though, that the telecommunications services is a burgeoning field—and Aligned TeleHealth is at the forefront.
“In an era of healthcare reform, our company is focused on reducing wait times for specialty consults in emergency rooms, as well as improving throughput,” Dr. Nanda said. “Facilities are searching for these solutions to help reduce costs and provide patients with the highest quality of care, and Aligned TeleHealth is addressing these needs with the delivery of physician consultations through telemedicine and hospitalist services.”
