When you work at a company known for developing games like Solitaire and Jigsaw Puzzle, it’s hard to have a bad day at the office. That is, according to Creative Director Jaxon Fang, as long as the culture aligns with the mission.
At MobilityWare, that alignment is key to the company’s growth. Fang attributes his team’s recent wins with their ability to take chances on new game ideas.
“We are given the freedom to conceptualize, prototype and playtest anything and everything we can dream of,” Fang said.
Over the past few years, this freedom has led to the production of original apps such as Castle — MobilityWare’s spin on Solitaire. Castle has engaged millions of players with its challenging gameplay and unlockable rewards since its launch in 2019. Because, as one of the company’s core values states, employees “take creating fun seriously.”
As a tenured employee, what has been the biggest reason you’ve stayed at your company so long?
Since joining MobilityWare in 2014, I’ve been fortunate to play a role in the company’s remarkable growth. When I first joined, we had roughly 30 employees on staff. Today we have more than 200. While there are many reasons that I’ve remained with the company in the intervening years, the most important to me has been how leadership constantly strives to live up to our core values; the very same values that MobilityWare was founded upon.
At MobilityWare, people are empowered to do their best work in all facets of the business. Everyone on the product team is given the flexibility and opportunity to create the most enjoyable play experience possible for our audience. Being a creative director, it’s important for my team to be able to create and take chances on new game ideas. We are given the freedom to conceptualize, prototype and playtest anything and everything we can dream of and are given the full support of the leadership team.
Each year, the company hosts a weeklong Game Jam event. During the event, which has become a cornerstone of MobilityWare’s company culture, anyone in the studio can pitch and build a game with like-minded teammates.

Looking to the future, what excites you most about where your company is headed or, more specifically, the work you’ll do to help your company get there?
One of the things that excites me the most about the future at MobilityWare is the opportunity to work with branded intellectual properties. While I’ve worked on projects in the past that incorporated licenses, this is the first time I will be able to do so at MobilityWare. I will be able to have my team play a vital role in creating a game that we are all proud of.
It also speaks to the studio’s growth over the past few years. We have a couple of projects that involve our team working closely with third-party brands to ensure that the license is central to the gameplay and really resonates with fans of both the game genre and the brand. We’re looking forward to showing players what MobilityWare has to offer with these exciting new games.
