There’s one employee benefit that many professionals consider a dealbreaker when choosing an employer — and it’s not a high salary range.

According to Randstad’s 2025 Workmonitor report, flexibility is the leading motivator behind professionals’ decision to join their employers. Among the more than 26,000 professionals surveyed across 35 markets, 83 percent deemed work-life balance more important than pay, signaling a global shift in how people perceive their relationships with their careers.

Receiving support from one’s employer is important for everyone, especially when life throws unexpected curveballs — as was the case for Nathalie Saade, a senior people operations specialist at Identity Digital. She recalled a time when she was forced to navigate an unexpected personal situation and, with the company’s support, was able to adjust her schedule and manage her tasks on her own time without falling behind.

“This experience reinforced how flexibility not only helps with personal situations but also fosters a deeper sense of trust and commitment to my role,” Saade said.

Flexibility is one of the cornerstones of Identity Digital’s culture, enabling employees to prioritize their personal needs — and build a better workplace in the process.

“It builds trust, supports individuals and drives high performance,” Saade shared.

Below, Saade shares more about how Identity Digital fosters flexibility and the impact this has on employees and the company as a whole.

What does flexibility in the workplace look like for you? What practices/policies are in place that support it?

For me, flexibility in the workplace is about having the autonomy to manage my time in a way that supports productivity, well-being and a healthy work-life balance. This includes practices and policies like flextime hours, hybrid or remote work options and understanding around occasional personal needs. At the same time, flexibility is rooted in trust and integrity, and it helps employees take ownership of their responsibilities and empowers them to remain committed to delivering results.

Why is flexibility an important element of Identity Digital’s culture?

Flexibility is a foundational part of a company’s culture. It builds trust, supports individuals and drives high performance. It’s not just about when and where we work; it’s about being treated with respect and empathy, which fosters stronger trust between employees, managers and the organization as a whole. I remember a time when I had to navigate an unexpected personal situation, and because of the flexibility that we have in our company culture, I was able to adjust my schedule for the day and work remotely. I kept in close communication with my manager and the team to manage tasks without falling behind. This experience reinforced how flexibility not only helps with personal situations but also fosters a deeper sense of trust and commitment to my role.

What tools or meeting structures ensure that a flexible work setup works for everyone?

I think reliable tools are key to making a flexible work setup successful. For example, I rely on Slack to quickly and easily communicate with my team and manager. It allows for instant messaging, quick huddles and efficient collaboration across teams, ensuring everyone stays connected regardless of location, which is especially valuable when coordinating across different time zones and schedules.
