GrayMatter Robotics, a company serving the manufacturing sector, recently opened a new headquarters in Carson, California, spanning 100,000 square feet at 2226 E. 223rd St. The facility will be GrayMatter’s interactive robotics experience center as it develops AI-powered manufacturing automation solutions.

The company’s new location features more than 25 robotics cells that actively perform real manufacturing operations on customer parts. This proof-of-concept function for GrayMatter allows visitors to witness its physical AI technology in motion firsthand. GrayMatter’s proprietary GMR-AI technology enables automation informed by physics, ensuring the robots’ programming accounts for forces, materials, geometries and tool behaviors, which allows them to operate safely and accurately.

Situated in the South Bay area, GrayMatter aims to bring various economic benefits to the region, starting with the immediate creation of 100 high-skilled jobs in advanced AI, robotics, multidisciplinary engineering, manufacturing operations and technical support, with plans to add hundreds more roles over the next few years. The company is also looking into partnership opportunities with local colleges and schools to establish robotics and AI training programs and further develop the region’s workforce.

With its new facility fully operational, GrayMatter plans to extend its tech’s capabilities beyond surface finishing into more manufacturing processes, increase its manufacturing capacity, advance its AI stack, fuel customer acquisition and launch workforce training and certification programs.
