This week, JewelMint announced its first designer collaboration with Philip Crangi, a CFDA award-winning designer. The partnership with this Giles & Brother and Philip Crangi Jewelry designer marks the first in its new Studio Series, which will offer exclusive designer originals to members.

JewelMint launched in October 2010 as the first of e-commerce site Beachmint’s brands. The monthly subscription service offers members a selection of pieces based on their personal preferences. While the monthly fee is usually $29.99, some pieces from Crangi’s collaboration line are a bit pricier.
We caught up with BeachMint’s VP of Operational Strategy, Jason Reuben, who chatted with us about how the Studio Series reflects JewelMint’s direction moving forward and the potential for the other “Mints” to follow suit.
How does this series reflect JewelMint's desire to provide affordable jewelry to consumers?
JR: Studio Series offers the JewelMint community access to exclusive pieces designed with them in mind by some of fashion's most coveted names. We are really proud that we have been able to maintain the authenticity and quality associated with these designers at JewelMint's accessible pricing. The majority of the pieces in the Giles & Brother xJewelMint collection are $30, and a few special pieces are $60 to $90 – they are truly spectacular!
Why do designers want to partner with JewelMint and what do they get out of the partnership?
JR: Designers at this caliber are really excited to reach our very engaged customer base (over 1 million fans on Facebook). They are also really happy with the creative freedom to design something so true to their aesthetic vision but for a whole new audience. The response to their designs is also much more immediate than at traditional retail.
Strategically speaking, how does this position your brand relative to your competitors?
JR: It speaks volumes for our brand to be partnered with such high caliber designers. We are not just selling these designers’ old inventory – rather the designer is producing new and exclusive pieces tailored to our community.
Looking ahead, will emphasis be more on price and affordability or on exclusive designs?
JR: What is important to us is providing the perfect balance between these two factors.
Will the other Mints offer similar lines in the future?
JR: We are always exploring potential partner options for all the Mints and receive many exciting offers – it is of utmost importance to us that the partnership is the right fit for that Mint and their community.
