5 tech events to plan your week around

It's a brand new week, and it's time to remember how awesome it is to be involved with the LA tech community. Here are five events worth checking out.

How to Make the Leap to Entrepreneur, Nov. 14 at 6:30 p.m.

There will never be a lack of innovative ideas, but for many, taking an idea and building upon it is the real sticking point. This event will help aspiring founders understand everything it takes to be a tech entrepreneur, from identifying a viable business opportunity to when to think about quitting your day job.

R.E.D. Talks: Building a Successful Startup in L.A, Nov. 15 at 6 p.m.

Michael Dubin, CEO and founder of the (somewhat) recently acquired LA tech giant Dollar Shave Club will discuss how his startup has risen from the incubator level to being bought for $1 billion in July. He will also talk recruiting tech talent in LA, and why he believes his company's perks inspire employees. 

SheWorx Women in Tech Panel: Redefining Leadership | Techweek LA, Nov. 16 at 1:30 p.m.

SheWorx, a community for aspiring female entrepreneurs, celebrates its launch in the LA market just in time for Techweek LA. The event will a panel discussing leadership, and will feature a number of LA-based panelists, including Cameron Kashani, the Godmother of Silicon Beach.

ARcade 6: VR/AR in Travel, Real-Estate, and Airbnb, Nov. 16 at 6 p.m.

Airbnb Open, an annual event bringing together Airbnb hosts from more than 190 countries, is coming to Los Angeles, but instead of a bunch of hosts getting together to commiserate about guest horror stories, this event will focus on the future of virtual travel. Partnered with HTC, ARcade 6 will feature VR experiences from the 2016 Olympics in Rio, the Amazon and world famous cities like Paris. 

UCLA Big Data Conference, Nov. 18 at 8:30 a.m.

The UCLA Anderson School of Management will play host to a day dedicated to one thing: big data. Join data scientists from around the world to discuss how big data technology deployment has revolutionized businesses and entire sectors, and how we haven't really realized big data's true potential.
