Come show off your web development skills and make a difference! The non-profit organizations we’ll be helping during Website Weekend LA include:
- The American Cetacean Society, LA Chapter
o A non-profit that protects whales, dolphins, and their habitats through public education, research grants, and conservation activities
- El Centro De Acción
o An organization dedicated to providing opportunities and key educational programs for low income individuals and families to become self-sufficient and to provide culturally sensitive programs to those in need of services, especially in the Spanish-speaking population of Pasadena and the San Gabriel Valley.
- Hike It Up
o An organization founded on the importance of positively impacting children and adults to improve adverse conditions.
- I Vote
o A Los Angeles-based non-profit focused on reinvigorating the youth community to participate in politics and change while arising youth engagement in local politics and issues.
- iUrban Teen
o iUrban Teen brings together underrepresented teens for a day full of programs such as tech tours, toastmasters, job shadowing, and mentorship. The mission of the program is to expose non-traditional STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Math) learners to opportunities in STEAM (STEM + Art) careers and to encourage high school graduation and extended learning.
- The Pasadena Museum of History
o Founded in 1924 to preserve and share rich history, art, and culture of Pasadena and its neighboring communities.
- The Youth and Gender Media Project
o A project that encompasses a growing collection of short films that capture the diversity and complexity of gender non-conforming youth.
