The new, Justin Timberlake-backed MySpace is banking on its users love of music. This Thursday through Sunday, the social entertainment company will be hosting so-called MySpace Secret Shows at the SXSW festival in Austin, Texas.
[ibimage==26107==Large==none==self==ibimage_align-center]These shows, which are rumored to feature artists such as Kid Cudi, Sleigh Bells and Diplo, present a new revenue-generating option for MySpace: sponsorship. The 10 shows will be presented by Chevrolet.
“Myspace…is all about music,” Chris Perry, Chevrolet’s U.S. vice president of marketing, said, according to MediaPost. “This partnership continues Chevrolet’s tradition of embracing music.”
Original content on MySpace and advertising across its the network of its parent, Specific Media, complement the sponsorship.
