Global content delivery network (CDN) EdgeCast raised $23.77 million in Q1 of 2013, according to a report from SoCal Tech. The news was announced over the weekend by Pricewaterhouse Coopers and the National Venture Capital Association in the Moneytree Report. At this time, the source of funding is unknown.

Founded in 2006, Santa Monica-based EdgeCast has grown to well over 200 employees and recently announced over $100 million in revenue.

EdgeCast boasts partnerships with leaders in software and services (Dell, Google, Microsoft and Adobe); carriers (T-Mobile); streaming, content management and monetization; and hosting. Many of the partners' names may not be familiar to those outside the industry, but they enable EdgeCast to deliver clients' content blazing fast.

Some of EdgeCast's 4,000 customers include EMI Music Publishing, LinkedIn and JetBlue.
