Summary: Nine Los Angeles tech employers — from The Aerospace Corporation to System1 — are scaling amid $3.1 billion in early-2025 local funding, announcing new products and milestones. Most tout career-growth perks like tuition reimbursement, promote-from-within tracks and lunch-and-learns.

Los Angeles is living up to its name “Silicon Beach” and continues to make waves in the tech industry.

A report from The Brookings Institution recently ranked Los Angles as one of the top cities for AI adoption out of 387 U.S. cities — measuring things like the availability of AI talent and the infrastructure to support AI growth.

It’s more than just AI companies that are growing, though. The LA Times reported that venture capital and private equity firms wrote checks totaling $3.1 billion in the first few months of 2025 alone — a notable rise compared to a year ago.

Built In found nine Los Angeles companies that are part of the Silicon Beach tide this summer with new product announcements, growing teams and innovative tech.

Innovative tech from The Aerospace Corporation: The Aerospace Corporation made advancements earlier this year in small satellite innovation by connecting an optical crosslink between a pair of 6-unit CubeSats in low-Earth orbit. The company noted that the endeavor will enable small satellites to “operate collaboratively in formations, unlocking new possibilities for commercial and government missions,” according to a press release.

“This level of miniaturization presents challenges the industry has yet to tackle at scale,” said Steve Isakowitz, Aerospace president and CEO in the press release. “Aerospace is bridging that gap, working closely with industry to transition this technology for commercial and government use.”

The company donated $75,000 to support members and employees who were affected by Los Angeles wildfires earlier this year and the company is known for providing promotion and upskilling opportunities for employees. For example, Sam Ignacio, a cloud and network engineer, told Built In about the culture of growth and learning at the company. “First Entertainment Credit Union prioritizes internal mobility and upskilling to cultivate a culture of growth and development,” Ignacio said. “Using myself as an example, I started from a tech support representative and was able to grow into an engineer position. This culture is demonstrated by my own experience, where my manager encouraged me to take certification courses after I indicated an interest in learning more about cloud computing, which led to my promotion.”
