The top 5 events for LA's tech scene this week

After a busy week last week, the LA tech scene keeps rolling with another seven days full of talks, events, and meetups. While there is a slew of events to check out on the events calendar, here is a look at the top five of the week:

LA Startup Week Opening Party, Nov. 16 at 7 p.m.

LA Startup Week is one week of events to celebrate, recognize and engage the entrepreneurs in the city. Events will be held throughout the week at General Assembly, Expert Dojo, Rhubarb Studios, and the Santa Monica Beach.The opening party will be held Monday evening at Cross Campus — be sure to register before it sells out. 

Connected Car Expo, Nov. 17 at 7:15 a.m.

The award-winning Connected Car Expo (CCE) unites automotive and technology professionals in an effort to increase development and foster relationship-building in the connected car industry. SPeakers include Mayor Garcetti, Lyft President John Zimmer, and HopSkipDrive CEO Joanna McFarland.

LA Tech Summit, Nov. 17 at 9 a.m.

LA Tech Summit is aimed at bringing together LA technology companies, investors, incubators and startups. Speakers this year include Jared Leto, J.B and Tony Pritzker, Dodgers CFO Tucker Kain. Learn what makes "LA Tech" the most innovative technology ecosystem in the nation. The event is also offering 50% to all Built In readers. 

SoCal Python meetup at Activision, Nov. 19 at 7 p.m.

Swing by for the group's last meetup of the year and learn how Activision uses Python. The event will feature talks from Activision developers Andrew Mo and Alex Baeza as well as a presentation from Ron Lin PhD about how to build machine learning and natural language processing into applications using Python.

UCLA Big Data Conference, November 20 at 8:30 a.m.

This one day interactive conference will bring together a cross section of industry experts and academic thought leaders who are shaping and defining the Big Data conversation. Here speeches from  Bob Lord (CEO, AOL Networks), Manju Bansal (Vice President, SAP), as well as representatives from Adobe, AIG, IBM, and Ticketmaster.
