As we collectively enter the new age of the internet, much of our world is being transposed onto digital environments. One Web3 company is working to make the gaming industry even more immersive with its new acquisition. This week, Mythical Games announced its acquisition of DMarket, adding the esports-focused platform to its digital asset marketplace solution.

Gaming tech studio Mythical Games launches free-to-play and play-to-own games on the Mythical Platform, a tool that enables digital asset trading and selling for game economies. It’s developed titles like Blankos Block Party and NFL Rivals with more games in the works such as Nitro Nation and Magic Fight.

The company uses blockchain technology to create new revenue streams for players and developers alike. Users can own digital assets and become stakeholders in creator-focused game economies. News of the acquisition follows Mythical Games’ hefty Series C round where it achieved a more than $1 billion valuation.

With the acquisition of DMarket, a Ukrainian-born and Delaware-based marketplace for trading virtual items and tech to build metaverses, Mythical Games launched Mythical Marketplace 2.0. This marketplace is built on Mythical’s new layer 1 Ethereum virtual machine, or EVM, blockchain. It’s powered by the Mythos native ecosystem token MYTH.

DMarket’s tech has also been fully integrated into Mythical Marketplace 2.0, allowing it to feature elements of DMarket’s blended payment gateway, such as anti-fraud protection. These capabilities allow Mythical to provide a more streamlined user experience that enables peer-to-peer transactions for gamers taking part in play-and-own gaming economies.

“Mythical’s Marketplace 2.0 was designed to not only enhance our platform but, more importantly, improve the player experience and set the standard for the future of gaming,” John Linden, co-founder and CEO of Mythical Games, said in a statement. “All too often, developers tout features as ‘seamless’ and ‘integrated’ when discussing gaming or metaverse projects. In reality, these solutions are still very complicated and not made for gamers. But with these monumental steps forward, Mythical will provide users with an experience that delivers on both.”

The addition of DMarket’s trading platform makes Mythical the world’s second-largest processor of digital assets on a distributed ledger, according to the company. It’s ranked behind the primary public Ethereum network, as of December.

“The new horizons of the gaming space have always been the main focus for DMarket,” Vlad Panchenko, co-founder and CEO of DMarket, said in a statement. “We’re excited to become a part of Mythical Games’ work to reduce barriers to entry for innovative game developers and thriving new economies.”

Mythical Marketplace 2.0 will support assets for NFL Rivals and Nitro Nation World Tour, and eventually expand to all of Mythical’s other titles.

As for DMarket, the company’s founders will join Mythical’s executive team. The company has also adopted the Mythical Chain, the blockchain that hosts all of Mythical Game’s titles, for its existing marketplace. DMarket’s gaming and esports digital assets platform will continue to operate outside of the Mythical Marketplace.
