Calabasas-based game developer GreenPark Sports announced Friday that it raised $31 million in fresh financing. The Series B, led by Terraform Capital, will help the company accelerate its product development roadmap as it continues to scale.

Founded in 2018, GreenPark’s social gaming platform offers sports fans a way to digitally engage with their favorite teams and athletes. The company provides fans with multiple virtual universes to engage with where they can play games, enter contests and win prizes for their customizable avatars. To create its fan-centric game spaces, GreenPark has agreed to several major licensing deals with big name clients like the National Basketball Association (NBA) and League of Legends

On GreenPark’s mobile app, you can acquire prizes based on how much “fanergy” you accrue. The better your performance, the more fanergy you win. With more fanergy, you can secure a higher spot on the virtual leaderboard and obtain new items to deck out your avatar. Some of those items include officially licensed NBA gear like jerseys and hats.

“[We’re] committed to creating the de facto new fan experience, providing unique and innovative ways to engage today’s modern sports fans,” the company said in a statement.

Back in May, the company announced a partnership with the NFT experts over at Immutable to offer sports fans a way to convert and monetize their gaming assets. Immutable operates out of Australia and specializes in scaling blockchain marketplaces.

GreenPark plans to drop its first batch of NFTs in the coming weeks. Moving into next year, the company will aim to integrate more NFTs into its core fan experience.

“We’ll continue to push even further as a fan-first approach that presents new expansive social experiences for them to connect, celebrate and activate their fandom into a multi-sport metaverse,” the company continued.

The company is also growing, and is now hiring for a dozen positions across its game design, engineering and product departments

GreenPark’s app is available to download on both Android and iOS devices. The company has raised a total of $53.5 million in venture capital financing to date, according to Crunchbase.

Additional investors Galaxy Interactive, Sapphire Sport and SignalFire participated in the round, among others.
