If you look under the hood of any fast-growing tech company, you’re going to find a well-oiled sales team. These teams find success because they’re filled with individuals who love solving problems and believe in their company’s product and mission. We spoke with salespeople at five fast-growing Los Angeles tech companies to learn more about how they kicked off their careers and what they love most about their roles.

RingDNA Los Angeles sales jobs

RingDNA’s end-to-end sales engagement platform uses artificial intelligence and machine learning to analyze call data and provide insights that help sales, support and customer success teams perform better over the phone. As you might have guessed, the company’s sales team uses RingDNA. Enterprise Account Executive John Greene said using the product he sells makes his job easier — and provides the added benefit of helping grow his skill set.

What prompted you to pursue a career in sales?

As with any salesperson, money is always a motivator. However, you can make money a lot of different ways, so I like to go beyond the money and focus on the “why.” First, I get a weird satisfaction from the rat race and constantly beating the odds. I believe that a competitive spirit is crucial to being successful in sales. The second thing I love is how directly you are able to impact the success of something larger than yourself. I get excited when my efforts help my team, or the company overall, achieve its goals.

One of the best things about working at RingDNA is I get to use the solutions I am selling.

What aspects of your current role do you love the most and why?

One of the best things about working at RingDNA is I get to use the solutions I am selling. Not only do they make my job easier, they actually help me grow my skills. In addition, RingDNA leadership empowers us to own our own destiny. Due to the capabilities of our solution, the activities we engage in are easily tracked. This means we get to dissect success, identify challenges and hold onto what works. It is an incredible experience to be directly impacted by the product you are selling and to see similar impacts on your customers.

Scorpion Los Angeles tech jobs

Full-service digital marketing and technology company Scorpion helps law firms, home services providers and small businesses boost revenue by growing their digital presence. Regional Director of Sales Amber Smith said what she loves most about her role is helping attorneys grow — and in some cases rescue — their practices.

What prompted you to pursue a career in sales?

I started my sales career by default several years ago when I began helping my friend build her bridal business. I discovered quickly that I enjoyed connecting with people and helping better their lives through the products that we offered. I stayed in the bridal industry for several years as an executive sales director for a couture designer. This past year I decided to change to a more sustainable industry that could provide the challenge and growth I was looking for. I was introduced to Scorpion by a friend and discovered firsthand their professionalism and, more importantly, the positive impact they could have on a business.

Knowing that I play a small role in helping firms achieve their goals, however big or small, is so fulfilling!

What aspects of your current role do you love the most? Why?

I absolutely love connecting with attorneys and offering them a way to either increase their business or salvage it from the downward turn it might have taken. There’s no better feeling than having confidence in the solutions you are offering and hearing the excitement — and sometimes even relief — come over someone as they realize that what we offer is going to positively impact not only their business, but also their lives. Knowing that I play a small role in helping firms achieve their goals, however big or small, is so fulfilling!

BloomNation Los Angeles sales jobs

BloomNation Strategic Growth Executive Dara Kashani likes the competitive nature of sales. But what Kashani loves about his role is the impact he makes on independent florists around the country, who use the tech company’s platform to showcase their creations and connect with local consumers in search of unique floral arrangements.

What prompted you to pursue a career in sales?

I felt it was the best way to learn how to build a foundation to start my own business. Understanding your customer base, value proposition and market placement are key pieces of the puzzle when it comes to scaling any kind of business idea. The competitive nature of sales and constant goal-driven activities really resonated with me since I come from an athletic background.

I love the direct impact I can have on both BloomNation and the small businesses we help.

What aspects of your current role do you love the most and why?

I love the direct impact I can have on both BloomNation and the small businesses we help. I’ve talked to thousands of small business owners and have been able to witness the direct impact we are making on their bottom line. In many cases, we helped them stay in business. It's hard to not feel good about that.

CreatorIQ Los Angeles tech jobs

Keeping up with the ever-evolving influencer marketing industry can be difficult for some companies — but not CreatorIQ. The company’s cloud-based platform, which is used by enterprise companies to manage and track influencer marketing campaigns, is constantly evolving to match new trends in the industry. Sales Director Stacey Reiss said the ever-evolving nature of CreatorIQ’s platform makes solving customer problems — and closing deals — easier.

What prompted you to pursue a career in sales?

I got into sales per the advice of friends who knew me well and believed it would match my personality and skill set. They were right! As someone who is ambitious and competitive, I love the performance-driven aspect of sales, where success is both tangible and can impact your earning potential. It's also a fun relationship-driven role that is really about building trust, uncovering needs and figuring out how your product can help solve a potential customer's problems. Closing deals is not only gratifying from a personal standpoint, but also because you've helped a company move closer to achieving its goals.

What aspects of your current role do you love the most and why?

We have an amazing product that is really well suited to digitally progressive companies, which allows me to work with really interesting and forward-thinking businesses. Not only is influencer marketing an exciting and ever-evolving industry, but our product is also consistently evolving alongside trends in the industry. This makes it not only a fun product to sell, but also allows me to walk into meetings feeling confident in our ability to craft a solution and close the deal.

NuORDER Los Angeles sales jobs

NuORDER’s cloud-based e-commerce platform helps companies boost their B2B sales. The platform connects brands in a variety of industries, including footwear, apparel and accessories, with wholesale buyers. Account Executive Evan Fleming said working with the people behind these brands and helping them solve problems that boost their bottom line is what he loves most about his role.

What prompted you to pursue a career in sales?

I went into sales because I believe we are all salespeople in some way, and I wanted to master this skill. If you are trying to convince your spouse or friend to go to that new restaurant down the block, see a new movie or play basketball on the weekend, you are selling. As someone who wants to start their own business one day, learning this skill is a requirement because sales is the lifeblood of every company.

I also love knowing that the more effort I put in, the more income I will make. Your income is directly tied to your performance, and it's great motivation to continually refine my skills and get better every day.

It's a great feeling to know you are helping someone and making a serious impact on their day-to-day as well as the business’ bottom line.

What aspects of your current role do you love the most and why?

At NuORDER, we work with some of the biggest brands in apparel, accessories, footwear, outdoors and sporting goods. Every day I get to meet the individuals who make these brands so great and learn more about their businesses while helping identify how our platform will make their lives easier. It's a great feeling to know you are helping someone and making a serious impact on their day-to-day as well as the business’ bottom line.
