Cloud-based security platform Signal Sciences announced a $35M Series C funding round on Tuesday. Lead Edge Capital led the round and CRV, Index Ventures, Harrison Metal and OATV participated. Lorrie Norrington, an operating partner at Lead Edge Capital and a former president at eBay, will join the Signal Sciences' board of directors.

Signal Sciences produces security software that protects web applications, APIs and other cloud-based systems. Since launching in 2014, the company's security solutions have been used to protect over 10,000 applications, including ones owned by tech giants like Adobe and WeWork. The company's web application firewall (WAF) and runtime application self protection (RASP) products protect users — most commonly, engineers — from viral threats, and includes integrations with popular project management tools including Slack and JIRA for easy day-to-day use.

“We believe our rapid customer growth and five-star Gartner reviews validate that we have, by far, the best WAF technology in a surging web app security market, and we're using our funding to continue to build on that lead,” said Signal Sciences CEO, Andrew Peterson, in a statement released by the company.

We’re doubling down on engineering innovation and partnerships to deliver maximum security value for our customers as well as expanding key areas of our business to drive continued growth.”

It's been a big few months for the security provider. Signal Science's WAF product won an award from Gartner Peer Insights in December, and the company was recently named to Built In LA's own 50 Startups to Watch. Including today's round, the company will have raised a total of $61.7 million in capital to date.

What's next for Signal Sciences? According to the company's press release, new funding will allow the platform to expand into new markets while keeping up with customer demand, which the company says is significant. To hit those marks, Signal Sciences will have to grow.

“We’re doubling down on engineering innovation and partnerships to deliver maximum security value for our customers as well as expanding key areas of our business to drive continued growth. This will be a massive year for Signal Sciences,” Peterson said.
