Factual secures a cool $42M in funding

Factual, a platform that uses global data to enrich location signals, said Wednesday that it has raised a massive $42 million in funding. The fresh funds will support the company’s plans to expand internationally, grow existing markets, as well as deepen partnerships with brands, publishers and business analysts.

Upfront Ventures and Felicis Ventures participated in this round of funding, which brings Factual’s total funding to $104 million. “We are just at the beginning of this new data economy and companies all over the world are relying on Factual. Snap brings in a WarnerMedia veteran to lead sales

Snap, the parent company of multimedia messaging app Snapchat, has named Kristen O'Hara vice president, U.S. global business solutions, according to reports from The Hollywood Reporter. In her new role, O'Hara will lead the company’s business solutions division which includes sales and Snap's collaboration with advertisers. A new chief financial officer joins the team at Songtradr

Music licensing platform, Songtradr said Wednesday that it has named Clare Nicholls as chief financial officer. In her new role, Nicholls will be responsible for the development of the company’s investment strategy to support international expansion and pushing forward Songtradr’s product development. Nicholls brings over 20 years of experience and previously worked at companies like Salomon Brothers (currently Citigroup), UBS Warburg and ABN Amro.

“Clare is an award-winning finance visionary who has led IPOs at global blue chip companies. As CFO, Nicholls will help Songtradr dominate the music-licensing category, as we look to expand our footprint internationally and build our portfolio of proprietary products, including utilizing blockchain technology and deep data analytic solutions, critical for Songtradr’s artist partners and licensing clients,” Songtradr CEO Paul Wiltshire said in a statement. [Press release]
