Two LA startups net $35 million to end the week

We can't help but notice that LA's best funding rounds always seem to come in pairs. This week was no different as these two local startups grabbed a total of $35 million to expand their businesses:

Amount: $20 million

Investors: Sequoia Capital

The on-demand storage startup founded by Ari Mir and Brian Thomas netted their series B this week. This is their fifth round, and first since their $9 million series A in October, amassing over $32 million. The startup is currently in the midst of a West Coast expansion.

Amount: $15 million

Investors: General Catalyst Partners, including Lux Capital, Social Capital, TenOneTen Ventures, Bullpen Capital and the Pritzker Group.

Based in Santa Monica, Airmap operates an airspace mapping platform for drone manufacturers. The $15 million round is their series A, following their $2.6 million seed round in July 2015. The service helps drones stay clear of restricted airspace and is used by manufacturers like DJI and 3DRobotics.
