The Web Developer’s role is to design and build web and mobile applications, adhering to coding standards and best practices, including testing the security and quality of code. This job requires strong programming skills, attention to detail, exceptional problem solving abilities and a solid sense of design. Duties include handling complicated backend tasks such as migration, search customization, and taking a project from the development phase to a final product. Must work comfortably with other developers and designers to quickly bring new ideas to fruition.


Responsibilities

Strategy & Planning
• Perform application and database design, server capacity planning, and search optimization.
• Plan large-scale site/data migrations.
• Manage multiple projects and coordinate resources.

Development & Design
• Build secure, stable and performant solutions for web and mobile platforms.
• Code custom modules, libraries, applications and web service integrations.
• Develop both front and back-end software including but not limited to using JavaScript, HTML, CSS, MySQL, Drupal, and LAMP.
• Design front-end user experiences and debug cross browser compatibility issues
• Write database queries, and logic.
• Roll out new sites and services into smoothly and securely into production.
• Research products, services, and negotiate with vendors in support of procurement and development efforts.

Operational Duties
• Manage all sites and web services including Linux servers, cloud services, load balancers, caching mechanisms and CDN.
• Work closely with the security team in testing site security, and implementing authentication, technical security controls and auditing.
• Troubleshoot application and site issues including 3rd party modules and patches.
• Monitor and test application performance and provide performance and usage statistics and reports.
• Recommend, schedule, and perform site improvements, software upgrades, and repairs.
• Implement security best practices throughout all code and systems.

Position Requirements

Formal Education & Certification
• College diploma or university degree in the field of computer science and/or 5 years equivalent work experience.
• 3+ years’ experience developing, maintaining and supporting web content management software, preferably Drupal.

Knowledge & Experience
• Master of HTML, CSS/SASS, JS and other web related letter combinations.
• Experience designing and developing mobile applications for IOS and/or Android.
• Strong knowledge of LAMP stack with Drupal experience, preferably Drupal 8.
• Knowledge and experience working with IIS and can provide IIS support.
• Clean, organized and performant code. Your code is a masterpiece, always.
• Strong understanding of responsive design, web UI/UX. Able to animate using CSS and other libraries like GSAP.
• Experience with version control (Git, SVN, etc.)
• Familiarity with software development methodologies (XP, Scrum, etc)
• Good understanding of the organization’s goals and objectives.
• Understanding of SPA frameworks a plus.
• Knowledge of applicable data privacy practices and laws.
