VP of Autonomous Software will oversee and manage complex Engineering and Customer infrastructure projects necessary to deploy Hyperloop One’s automated services. The VP will be tasked with continuous improvement of our automated system standards, practices, and tools to ensure adherence to infrastructure and security best practices.

THE ROLE:

VP of Autonomous Software will oversee and manage complex autonomous software projects necessary to deploy Hyperloop One’s automated services. This encompasses the autonomous control systems of the vehicles, infrastructure, and Command Center. The VP will be tasked with continuous improvement of our automated system standards, practices, and tools to ensure adherence to infrastructure and security best practices. The Autonomous Software will interface with the VP of Autonomous Hardware, the Sr. Director of Core Systems, and the Director of Machine Intelligence and Analytics to ensure the safe movement, planning, and delivery of people and cargo.

CANDIDATE PROFILE:

  • Leads, guides, and manages a group of software engineers in the development of new and autonomous driving features for Hyperloop One vehicles.
  • Is responsible for developing feature and system requirements, cross organizational system design, execution and evaluation of designs, and analysis, development, testing and control of major software engineering.
  • Manages overall the automation software engineering execution with other departments, functions, and suppliers.
  • Supports subsystem/component technical decisions and implementation.
  • Actively supports process improvement activities focused on high first-time delivery quality and 100% on-time execution
  • Lead global teams to deliver results for regional development activities, data analysis and test procedure generation and automation
  • Trains, develops, mentors, and manages employee performance
  • Reviews and approves engineering documentation

MINIMUM REQUIRED EXPERIENCE:

  • Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science or an equivalent level required.
  • 7+ years of relevant technical experience, including 5+ years in a leadership role.
  • Minimum 5 years of experience managing and deploying applications within a regulated environment.
  • Experience going through the full software cycle of requirements, design, coding/testing best practices and continuous integration in delivering world class software and services.
  • Strong programming skills in either Java, C++, Python, or C#
  • 5+ years of ADAS/Autonomous systems experience (Autonomous Driving and/or Robotics).
  • 2+ years autonomous, advanced driver assistance and/or collision avoidance features and their required technologies.
  • 2+ year of drive by wire or fly by wire development.

PREFERRED EXPERIENCE:

  • PhD or Master's Degree in Computer Science or equivalent.
  • Transportation and travel experience in fast-growing environment.
  • Experience with an autonomous car or autonomous plane systems and algorithms.
  • Implementation of computer and sensor architectures and interfaces
  • In-vehicle experimental validation and testing at automaker or Tier-1
  • Experience with Vehicle localization.
  • Use of tool sets for acquisition, data processing, and visualization of large-scale data sets.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills required.
  • Experience with Design Failure Mode Effects and Analysis (DFMEA)
