As a Sr. Tunnel Engineer at Hyperloop One you will play a key role in developing the transportation system of the future. You will have significant impact in the development of underground transportation infrastructure. 

Responsibilities:

• Lead structural analysis, design, and planning for underground structures including tunnels, shafts, excavation support systems, etc.
• Perform numerical analysis (2D and 3D) for underground transportation route options
• Develop drawings, specifications, calculations, and technical memoranda for underground structures
• Interface with interdisciplinary teams to establish technical and functional requirements for tunnel infrastructure
• Interpret codes and develop specifications related to tunnel design requirements

Requirements:

• MS, MEng, or PhD in Civil, Geotechnical, or Structural Engineering-- PE registration is preferred
• 7+ years of structural design experience for tunnel excavation, ground support, linings, retaining walls and shafts
• Proficient with 2D and 3D structural modeling software (e.g. STAAD Pro, SAP2000, Plaxis, FLAC, or similar)
• Experience in both soft ground and rock tunneling using TBM methods
• Experience with tunnels specifically designed for transportation use, including international safety codes and standards
• Experience with tunnel construction practices and techniques, including safety regulations
• Experience with seismic hazard assessments for design of underground structures
• Ability to communicate effectively with both technical and non-technical audiences, including clients, external consultants, and contractors
• Ability to work under limited direction in a fast paced environment
• Highly self-motivated and eager to take on new challenges
• Working knowledge of AutoCAD and/or Microstation
• Proficient with MS Office including Word, Excel and PowerPoint, etc.
