Opportunity
The goal of this position is to gain sufficient domain knowledge of a specific business function in order to identify areas of need, help design solutions for those needs, while managing all aspects of executing that design. The person in this role should have the ability to understand business requirements, identify gaps in effectiveness and make sound recommendations for addressing them in a manner aligned with what is best for OpenX as a whole. As a Sr. Technical Project Manager (TPM), this person will be responsible of all typical aspects of project management, including acquiring resources and coordinating responsibilities to deliver products, as well as overseeing the entire project lifecycle. A successful TPM in this role will also have the ability to assess priority and value of a given initiative, design the strategy to execute the solution, manage every aspect of the project, and communicate about each project to every level of the organization, as needed.

Responsibilities: Strategy & Planning

  • Build strong working relationships with key stakeholders.
  • In conjunction with key business stakeholders, product, engineering teams and program managers, identify projects within the program, prioritize, scope, and define deliverables that support business goals.
  • Establish human resources and hardware capacity requirements, risk/mitigation/change strategies and timelines.
  • Analyze processes to identify any areas of need, understand their priority and make recommendations for their improvement
  • Effectively manage and communicate project expectations to team members and stakeholders in a timely and clear fashion.
  • Conduct project post mortems and create a recommendations report in order to identify successful and unsuccessful project elements.
  • Develop best practices and tools for project execution and management.

Operational Management

  • Direct, and provide successful, hands-on, project management to drive entire project from requirement, execution to delivery.
  • Acting as Scrum Master to lead all Scrum ceremonies and activities.
  • Delegate tasks and responsibilities to appropriate personnel.
  • Understand, identify and manage both technical and non-technical project dependencies and critical path.
  • Identify and resolve issues and conflicts within the project team.
  • Develop and deliver project progress reports, proposals, and presentations.
  • Proactively manage changes in project scope, identify potential risks/crises, and devise contingency plans.

Position Requirements: Knowledge & Experience

  • 7+ years direct work experience in managing commercial software development projects/programs in project/program management capacity, including full software development lifecycle from product requirements to product release and post release support.
  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Business or Engineering
  • Working knowledge and experience using agile or waterfall methodology.
  • Strong familiarity with agile and/or traditional project management software, such as JIRA Agile, MS Project and Excel etc.
  • Competent and proficient understanding of SaaS platforms
  • Proven ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously within a program
  • Demonstrated resourcefulness and self-starter style.
  • Demonstrated experience in personnel management.

Other Requirements:

  • About 25% travel between Menlo Park/Silicon Valley office and Pasadena/Los Angeles Headquarter.

  • Adept at conducting research into project-related issues and products.
  • Must be able to learn, understand, and apply new technologies.
  • Ability to effectively prioritize and execute tasks in a high-pressure environment is crucial.
