ROLE SUMMARY: 
DSC is looking for a contract Sr. Accountant, whose primary responsibility will be support of the month-end close & general day-to-day accounting activity. You will work closely with the Accounting Manger & Controller to execute and implement on best practices and controls to collect, analyze, verify and assist in report financial data in accordance with GAAP and regulatory requirements. 

RESPONSIBILITIES: 

• Assist the Accounting Manager & Controller in managing the daily accounting activities and ensure accurate and timely month-end close.
• Preparation of select/necessary monthly & daily journal entries
• Assist in accounting for international operations
• Manage fixed asset recording and depreciation including internally developed software
• Manage tracking and amortization of prepaid assets
• Work with business heads and FP&A team to manage monthly accruals and operating costs
• Support the Senior Manger & Controller in continued process & system improvements related to general accounting and the 2-day close process
• Assist in analyzing and implementation of a controls framework and security of financial information
• Assist in internal & external reporting
• Responsible for special projects and one off request as they arise
• Responsibilities will grow/evolve with the business and accounting department needs

QUALIFICATIONS: 

• Thorough working knowledge of basic accounting procedures and principles
• 6+ years of accounting work experience
• Experience with general ledger functions and the month-end/year-end close process
• Accuracy and attention to detail
• Strong Microsoft Excel a must
• Strong interpersonal verbal and written communication skills
• Strong organizational skills
• Must be able to multi-task and willing to work in a high paced evolving environment
• J.D. Edwards experience preferred
• BA/BS with an emphasis in Accounting/Finance preferred
• Public accounting experience and/or work experience in a publicly traded company accounting department
