Loot Crate was founded in 2012 around a simple idea: put the awesomeness of Comic-Con in a box. Today, we ship some of the coolest geek, gaming, and pop-culture collectibles and accessories to a subscriber base in the hundreds of thousands (with no signs of slowing down) making us one of the top subscription box services in the world! We’ve assembled an amazing team of passionate, ambitious, impossibly nerdy people who cultivate our amazing fan community, provide support of the highest caliber, and generally just sit there radiating niceness. We’re always on the lookout for fun, hard-working new people to join our team and make Loot Crate even better.

The Role

The Software Engineer will be part of a small team developing a high-volume web application using all of the latest technologies. You will be part of our Growth team which adopts "growth hacking" methodologies: finding ways to rapidly experiment and iterate upon features that increase subscriber growth and/or retention numbers. This might include things such as testing conversions among different layouts of the homepage, or optimizing current user features.

What You'll Do:

  • Utilize best practice methods and principles (SOLID, "Tell, don't ask", TDD/BDD) to produce high-quality modular code
  • Proactively contribute to the quality, growth, and efficiency of the development team ("being awesome without needing to be micromanaged")
  • Help build responsive features
  • Follow Loot Crate best practices as they relate to contributing code
  • Actively contribute to the conversation around experimentation
  • Be the Subject Matter Expert for how Growth team initiatives can be accommodated via our Rails app

Qualifications Needed:

  • Minimum 1 year of professional experience with both Ruby on Rails and jQuery
  • BS/BA degree
  • Experience with these front-end technologies highly preferred: Bootstrap 3, React.js, jQuery, SASS
  • Experience working with API development, PostgreSQL, and Heroku server environment highly preferred
