The Pod Engineering Division is responsible for the design and development of the HyperPod, the Hyperloop transportation systems. These include the overall vehicle structure, levitation and linear motor integration, thermal management, on-board power, vehicle dynamics, structural dynamics, lifing, suspension system, braking system, and ancillary mechanical systems as well as the structural elements the vehicle. We are seeking candidates with various levels of experience to join our team of qualified, diverse individuals at our Los Angeles facility.

Responsibilities

As senior engineer for vehicle dynamics you will work on developing a world class system in terms of performance and passenger comfort for Hyperloop Pods and Transporters. We are looking for candidates passionate for developing next generation products in transportation and skilled in providing efficient solutions while working under tight deadlines.

As part of the dynamics team, you will work closely with peers in the pod team and the linear motor and levitation teams to develop dynamics models, passive and active dynamic control schemes, test and validation designs among other responsibilities associated with this role. You will also be responsible for generating engineering and load data for downstream activities on chassis design, structural optimization, and modal analysis. Participation in design reviews, product benchmarking, and overall system optimization studies.

Requirements

  • Multiple positions available
  • B.S. in Mechanical or Aerospace Engineering or related fields (M.S. or Ph.D. preferred)
  • Minimum 5 years of experience in one or more of the following related fields
    • Vehicle dynamics theory and application
    • Suspension system design and implementation
    • Knowledge of suspension types and Chassis structures
    • Demonstrated Ability in Vehicle Dynamics Development, including Active/Semi-Active Systems
    • FEA (dynamics) and machine design
    • Excellent analytical engineering skills and knowledge of mechanical vibrations and dynamics
  • Proficient with Matlab and Simulink
  • Proficient with MSC.Adams
  • Proficient in FEA software packages like ANSYS
  • Knowledge of C++ a plus
  • Hands-on laboratory setup of experiments
  • Familiarity with multi-disciplinary optimization methods and software packages like HEEDS is a plus
  • Excellent problem-solving skills
  • Excellent written and verbal communications skills
