THE PURPOSE:

The Hyperstructures team is responsible for the backbone infrastructure, portals and ancillary structures that enable operation of the Hyperloop One transportation system. As a Senior Structural Engineer at Hyperloop One you will play a key role in developing a safe, cost effective and robust design for the vacuum structure and supporting civil infrastructure.

THE ROLE: 

The position will be responsible for leading the developing innovative designs of both components and subsystems through the full product development cycle. A suitable applicant for this role will apply strong theoretical and practical engineering approach to define requirements, design, analysis, development, and manufacturing of system hardware. The role will require a good working understanding of project management and engineering leadership.

MINIMUM REQUIRED EXPERIENCE

• Must be legally authorized to work in the United States
• 5+ years of experience in one or more of the following:
  • *Structural engineering 
  • *Bridge design 
• Advanced degree (MS, MEng or PhD) in Civil or Structural Engineering, or similar field 
• Licensed Professional Engineer (PE), or able to obtain within one year
• Significant experience in steel and reinforced concrete design
• Extensive knowledge of engineering codes and standards
• Significant experience with FEA tools (SAP2000, MIDAS, SOFISTIK, ANSYS)
• Experience performing on-site structural inspections and/or observations during construction

Design skills utilizing AutoCAD

PREFERRED EXPERIENCE:

• Licensed Structural Engineer (SE)
• Significant experience with composites or non-standard structural materials
• Experience with seismic isolation and/or damping devices
• Experience in the fabrication and/or installation of complex structures
• Experience managing third party consultants and leading client facing meetings
• Experience mentoring junior engineers
