The Project Manager will be responsible for project management life-cycle activities including but not limited to project proposal development, project inception, budgeting, requirements gathering, resource management, work breakdown development, scheduling, documentation, development, quality assurance, change management, release and project close-out activities. An ideal candidate must be able to manage multiple cross-functional projects across the Hyperloop One organization and may be required to coordinate outside resources. 

 

The Project Manager must be able to work independently, occasionally without close support. Flexibility, relationship building, communication skills and time management are essential to success in this position. Projects may include, but may not necessarily be limited to, software development, hardware development, manufacturing, construction, infrastructure implementation and expansion, or internal systems implementation.

 

Job Responsibilities:

  • Initiate, plan and manage assigned projects to successful completion
  • Develop effective working relationships to promote inter-departmental cooperation to effectively create and lead cross functional technical teams through the development process from feasibility to launch
  • Serve as a communication conduit between the Engineering cross functional technical teams and Business teams
  • Positively influence at all levels, within and outside the organization
  • Facilitate defining scope, project goals, and success criteria
  • Create and manage a cross-functional project plan to successfully deliver new product/process/package innovation globally
  • Develop clear and concise documentation (e.g. project proposals, project plans, Gantt charts, status reports, budgets, requirements and design specifications, training documentation, close out documentation, etc.)
  • Drive project delivery and ensure excellence in project artifacts
  • Track completion of deliverables and adherence to timelines; track milestones and timelines across projects and provide recommendations when necessary to meet project deliverable expectations
  • Develop, manage, and communicate project budgets, timelines, and resource needs
  • Proactively identify changes in work scope and ensure appropriate planning measures are taken to reassess, renegotiate and amend scope of work responsibilities
  • Present information clearly, concisely, and accurately
  • Provide analysis to minimize risk across multiple projects and manage scope, cost and schedules
  • Schedule and run meetings for ongoing and prospective projects
  • Communicate directly, openly, honestly and reply quickly to requests
  • Confront issues openly and quickly, and tactfully communicate sensitive information
  • Clearly communicate project status, risks, and scope creep with impact to all stakeholders on a regular basis
  • Manage and drive vendors and external parties upon whom successful project delivery are dependent
  • Perform other related duties as requested by management


Job Qualifications;

  • Minimum of a Bachelor's Degree of Science; preferably an Engineering degree
  • 3+ Years hands-on experience in a technical or engineering position
  • 5+ Years of project management experience with a demonstrated track record of successful project completion and development of project artifacts, preferably in an R&D setting
  • Experience in aerospace, transportation, product research & development a plus
  • Background in development and commercialization of new products strongly desired
  • Project Management Professional Certified (PMP) is stronglydesired, Six Sigma Knowledge/experience a plus 
  • Demonstrated track record of successful management of multiple projects
  • Ability to work independently, within a team, and with other groups
  • Demonstrated initiative to develop innovative approaches and ideas and accepts responsibility
  • Technical competent to apply essential skills in performance of job responsibilities, understand technical information, and produce high quality work
  • Strategic Focus/Vision to translate vision and strategy into a clear, actionable goals
  • Excellent interpersonal skills, team building skills and communication skills are required
  • Identify and effectively utilize appropriate resources
  • Must be willing and able to travel, some global travel
