The IT Project Manager will be part of the Hyperloop-One project management team, reporting to the Director of the PMO. The IT Project Manager is responsible for project management life cycle activities including but not limited to project proposal development, project inception, budgeting, requirements gathering, resource management, work breakdown development, scheduling, documentation, development, quality assurance, change management, release and project close-out activities. The software Project Manager must be able to manage multiple cross-functional projects across the Hyperloop One organization and may be required to coordinate outside resources. 

The IT Project Manager’s responsibilities include planning, leading, organizing, and motivating project teams to achieve a high level of performance and quality in delivering infrastructure and enterprise projects that provide exceptional business value to users. An ideal candidate will have a high level of knowledge and experience in blending traditional project management principles and practices with an Agile development approach.

 

Essential Job Requirements:

  • Develop effective working relationships to promote inter-departmental cooperation to effectively create and lead cross functional Technical Teams through the development process from Feasibility to Launch
  • Serve as a communication conduit between the IT and cross functional technical teams
  • Assist in team development while holding teams accountable for their commitments, removing roadblocks to their work; leveraging organizational resources to improve capacity for project work
  • Develop clear and concise documentation (e.g. project proposals, project plans, Gantt charts, status reports, budgets, requirements and design specifications, training documentation, close out documentation, etc.)
  • Track completion of deliverables and adherence to timelines; track milestones and timelines across projects and provide recommendations when necessary to meet project deliverable expectations
  • Develop, manage, and communicate project budgets, timelines, and resource needs
  • Proactively identify changes in work scope and ensure appropriate planning measures are taken to reassess, renegotiate and amend scope of work responsibilities
  • Manage risks and issues and correct deviations from plans
  • Clearly communicate project status, risks, and scope creep with impact to all stakeholders on a regular basis
  • Manage and drive vendors and external parties upon whom successful project delivery are dependent
  • Champion ongoing process improvement initiatives to implement best practices for Agile and Traditional Project Management
  • Positively influence at all levels, within and outside the organization
  • Perform other related duties as requested by management

Job Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's Degree in Engineering or Science is required
  • 10+ years of experience as a Project Manager managing a wide range of projects in a high-tech development environment with multi-function teams.
  • 5+ years of experience with some combination of the following technology functions: Data Center, Disaster Recovery, Network, enterprise application deployment. 
  • 5+ years managing projects to implement enterprise applications
  • Project Management Certification (e.g. PMP) is preferred
  • Demonstrated ability to develop innovative approaches and ideas and accept responsibility
  • Technical competence to apply essential skills in performance of job responsibilities, understand technical information, and produce high quality work
  • Ability to work independently, within a team, and with other groups
  • Excellent oral and written communications skills and experience interacting with both business and IT individuals at all levels including the executive level
  • Microsoft Project, Visio, SharePoint, and all MS Office Tools
  • Must be willing and able to travel; some global travel
