 Dollar Shave Club, one of the fastest-growing online grooming businesses in the U.S. is expanding its international operations. If you have a proven track record in international business development and setting up new markets, then this role if for you.

Are you ready to take Dollar Shave Club, Inc. to the next frontier? The ideal candidate is an experienced executive drawing on his/her multi-disciplinary experiences and extensive exposure to establishing and over-seeing new country operations. An autonomous self-starter, the role requires this leader to acquire an in-depth knowledge and understanding the grooming industry, Dollar Shave Club’s brand and business proposition, and long-term strategic objectives.

Connecting international development efforts to the business strategy, this leader will develop and implement a robust multi-year international expansion plan - considering the unique attributes of new markets. He/she will establish and oversee strong leadership teams in each market to launch and successfully operate their business units. This position is a consultative role, part leader and part doer, and will suit a candidate with proven problem-solving skills.

ResponsibilitiesGrowing and managing DSC’s expansion, setting us up for success in all markets outside North America, this position will have the following broad responsibilities:

Strategy

  • Establish, or interpret and understand, key strategic priorities translating them into a comprehensive and communicable strategic plan
  • Translate strategic plans into discrete actionable and quantifiable plans
  • Mobilize and manage teams of contributors – often global - charged with co-developing and implementing plans
  • Monitor and ‘course-correct’ the execution of individual strategic plans
  • Engage with and be responsive to corporate strategy requirements including, but not limited to, BOD presentation requirements, strategic plan discussions and presentations, etc.
  • Partner with cross-functional International Advisory group to develop strategies to successfully launch operations in each market, ensuring that every business function knows how to support international operations once established

Business Development

  • Respond to deteriorating performance trends by performing root cause analysis, determining remedial plan(s) and driving to completion any tactical corrective actions
  • Proactively identify business development opportunities aligned to strategic objectives, e.g., M&A, new product development or existing product enhancements, value chain extension, etc. and develop proposals for approval, implementation and execution to completion
  • Launch new markets, ensuring that the right infrastructure is in place to sustain a successful venture, then:
  • Continually review and monitor market conditions and business performance to determine what actions we need to take to deliver against our topline growth objectives – both financial and brand KPI’s.
  • Direct team to focus on specific business objectives based on cost, operational and forecast data as well as current performance against our growth goals and objectives
  • Advise the Exec Team to review and adjust macro company goals and objectives based on market needs and business performance
  • Manage ongoing KPI (growth) performance to ensure ROI of investments in new markets (P&L authority)
  • Execute in an intense, fast-paced, and highly iterative environment
    • Engage with and be responsive to other corporate business development initiatives, including due diligence activities, contingency planning, scenario analyses, etc.

 Leadership

  • Provide daily leadership and management of DSC’s cross-functional business development team, a SWAT team of professionals (market insights, finance, strategy, operations) who are responsible for assessing and pursuing new business opportunities
  • As a key interface between stakeholders and with a limited core international infrastructure, it will be necessary to analyze, problem solve and drive to resolution numerous operational issues from ‘Go-To-Market’ challenges in a country or region to process and remove system impediments
  • Oversee the International operations and be accountable for the ongoing success of those businesses, including the brand and financial health of each market

Requirements:

  • 12-15 years in strategy and business development and operations
  • Global experience outside of the US
  • MBA or commiserate experience
  • Strong analytics and strategy background
  • Ability to take a business opportunity from concept to execution
  • Successful launch and operation of new international business ventures
  • Experience in both e-commerce and retail environments is ideal
  • Demonstrated sustainability of new businesses post launch
