Embedded Systems Developer
The Electromagnetic Systems division is responsible for the design and development of the Hyperloop Propulsion Motor, Levitation, and Guidance Systems. These systems are all electromechanical in nature and are designed by a highly cross-functional team of exceptional engineers in the areas of Electromagnetics, Mechanical Design, Heat Transfer, Materials Science, Testing, Controls and Embedded Systems, and Electrical System Modeling. We are seeking candidates with broad skillsets and various levels of experience to join our team of qualified, diverse individuals at our Los Angeles facility.
Responsibilities
The Embedded Systems Developer will focus on application of electromagnetics, power and computer electronics, and embedded software to solve propulsion and levitation system controls and component support. You will help architect the next generation of Transportation electronics systems including control hardware, algorithms, and software. You will work with a multi-disciplinary team to develop state of the art technology. An Ideal candidate should demonstrate the ability to learn quickly and work effectively in a fast-paced, rapidly changing environment.
Requirements
- Bachelors/Masters of Science degree in Electrical, Computer Engineering or other appropriate field
- Minimum of 5 years of experience designing, prototyping, testing, and procuring most of the following:
- Custom analog and digital circuits
- PCB boards schematics & layout
- Sensors: Lidar, visible cameras, radar, laser proximity, capacitance/inductance proximity, acceleration, pressure, and gyros
- Electronic power amplifiers, drivers, power supplies, and battery chargers.
- Sensor filters and pre-processors
- Minimum of 1 years of experience spec'ing, coding and testing most of the following:
- FPGA logic programming and synthesis (Verilog experience preferred)
- Embedded/microcontroller programming in C/C++.
- Embedded communications protocols: SPI, I2C, EtherCAT, Modbus, CAN bus.
- Experience with hardware and software debugging tools (such as scopes, function generators, logic & network analyzers)
- Strong skills in Real Time Embedded controls using RTOS, C, C++ programming and simulation tools such as Matlab and Simulink
- Ability to work well in a collaborative team environment
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
