THE PURPOSE:

The Director of Software Lifecycle Management will be part of the Software Engineering Division. This team manages the software design specifications, manages the product priorities, and the reporting to the rest of the business; as well as managing the release of the software to embedded and cloud systems. 

Ultimately, we will design reliable, scalable, real-time (or near-real time) applications that make Hyperloop One a reality. We are seeking candidates with various levels of experience to join our team of qualified, diverse individuals at our Los Angeles facility. 

 

THE ROLE:

  • Develop, implement, and optimize the software project management processes. 
  • Lead the configuration of JIRA for agile sprints, linking to appropriate other data sources. 
  • Lead, grow, and maintain a team project and product engineers. 
  • Keep a customer focused mindset, prioritizing developer productivity and application uptime.  
  • Champion processes and procedures across the organization.  
  • Communicate, present, and defend opinions concerning physical and logical architecture in a productive and diplomatic fashion. 
  • Help maintain both agile and waterfall environments with safety critical and safety related systems.

 

CANDIDATE PROFILE:

  • Experience managing teams to oversee embedded and cloud software developments. 
  • Previous user of JIRA or similar ticketing tool. 
  • Strong written and oral communication skills.  
  • Strong interpersonal skills.  
  • Ability to conduct research into issues and products as required.  
  • Ability to present ideas in user-friendly language and visuals.  
  • Highly self-motivated and directed.  
  • Keen attention to detail.  
  • Proven analytical and problem-solving abilities.  
  • Ability to effectively prioritize and execute tasks in a high-pressure environment.

 

MINIMUM REQUIRED EXPERIENCE:

  • Experienced Agile people manager within a Waterfall environment. 
  • Experience scaling and growing teams, processes and software. 
  • Experience as a Project, Program or Product Manager from a Software perspective. 
  • Solid industry experience with software related products. 
  • Experience delivering Software programs with embedded and cloud elements. 
  • Experience project managing hardware and software integrations. 
  • Understanding of performance tools, metrics and benchmarks.  
  • Working proficiency and excellent communication skills in verbal and written English.

 

PREFERRED EXPERIENCE:

  • BS or MS Degree in relevant field.  
  • Certified agile coach, scrum master, or similar. 
  • Certified project management professional, or similar
