The Honest Company is looking for a Director, Packaging who will strategize and execute development and management of the packaging program. The Director, Packaging will be responsible for implementing packaging programs, processes, and protocols optimized for both e-commerce and offline retail platforms. The Director, Packaging will also lead projects to cultivate and grow unique packaging lines across all categories against new item development/renovation calendars. This includes outlining, developing and validating ideas, directing packaging development, collaborating with R&D, Category Managers, and Marketing to achieve alignment with consumer service.

What you’ll do:

• Lead the development and implementation of new and improved packaging, ensuring defined needs for ergonomics, aesthetics, manufacturing capability and quality are met from ideation, through design and engineering
• Build, refine, and manage comprehensive packaging specification and testing protocols across categories for both e-commerce and retail channels
• Drive packaging savings and sustainability projects through evaluation, testing, and implementation for new and existing packages
• Develop sustainability goals and programs for all product lines across categories
• Establish supplier quality standards & supports supplier audits as needed
• Collaborate with suppliers in the development of packaging & in resolving quality-related issues through the appropriate test methods, design methodologies & feasibility justifications
• Partner with Product Development, Marketing, Sourcing, and Supply Chain functions to ensure project goals and times are met
• Remain current on and identify packaging trends, innovations, and recommend emerging packaging technologies to improve overall product value, performance, and cost
• Deliver, justify and execute on packaging-related capital initiatives (ie molds/equipment)

What you’ll need:

• Bachelor's degree (packaging, engineering, material science, or relevant degree)
• 8+ years of packaging engineering experience in CPG and Beauty industry and demonstrated abilities in working cross-functionally and managing high volume of projects successfully
• Experience in implementing packaging programs and protocols in CPG industry
• Expert in packaging testing and with package specifications
• Ability to motivate, lead, and influence cross-functional teams and stakeholders across the organization to execute projects/programs
