Who We’re Seeking:

Omaze's Data Science team is looking for an outstanding Data Engineer to help us architect and implement key systems, technologies, and tests. We have unique customers, interesting problems, and scale. We’re growing. And we’re looking for great people.

Data Science was one of the earliest teams at Omaze. We approach experimentation, testing, and learning very seriously. Our Data Engineers are seasoned. You’ve got experience with production level back-end code; you’re fluent in All Things AWS™®; you enjoy building scalable systems that easily sling terabytes hither and yon.

The successful candidate will be:

• Experienced. You’ve built enough stuff to tell the good from the bad (and are immune to Second System Syndrome).
• Accountable. You’re great at driving projects from inception to ship.
• Data-savvy. You know what it takes to move, manage and manipulate large sets of data across different environments.
• Cross-Functional. You’re super-comfortable working across the organization to gather requirements, take feedback, and ensure you’re building the right things.

Key Responsibilities:

• Architecture: Propose and implement innovative designs to enhance our existing data science infrastructure.
• Performance: Maintain highly responsive, high-availability systems by ensuring code quality, stability and scalability.
• Delivery: Write well designed, testable and reliable code.

Our Ideal Candidate:

• You have 5 - 7 years professional software experience, and good familiarity with technologies like Python, Luigi, SQL, and pandas.
• You're familiar with functional programming languages and have experience writing code in at least one of them.
• You understand A/B testing: how experiments are designed, conducted, and evaluated.
• You are great at query optimization on relational (MySQL) and non-relational databases.
• You have experience with the AWS suite of technologies (Lambda, RedShift, RDS, EMR, Kinesis, S3, etc.).
• You have experience with Hadoop, Hive, Spark, Redis, and ElasticSearch.
• You're great with distributed systems.
• You're comfortable in Unix environment and aren't afraid of Vim
