We’re looking for a Counsel to join Snap Inc! As Counsel, Litigation and Investigations, you’ll report directly to the Deputy GC & Chief Compliance Officer, who heads up the company’s litigation. You’ll split time between civil litigation and internal investigations. Working closely with other teams, you’ll play a leading role in ensuring that our litigation positions are top-notch and that our employees adhere to our policies and the law.
What you’ll do:
- Manage a diverse range of commercial litigation matters
- Oversee all aspects of outside counsel relationships on those matters, including staffing, strategy, and budgets
- Oversee substantive work on those same matters, including working with experts, editing legal briefs, preparing witnesses, and negotiating settlements
- Work with the Deputy GC to develop industry-leading alternative fee arrangements and RFP processes for outside counsel
- Collaborate internally to align business interests with litigation strategy
- Investigate allegations of employee misconduct, including potential violations of law and the company’s Code of Conduct, policies, and procedures
- Draft investigation plans, interview witnesses, and review related documents
- Prepare witness interview memos, case outcome reports, and root cause analyses
- Partner with Compliance, Employee Relations, Internal Audit, and other departments to enhance internal controls and develop disciplinary recommendations
Who we’re looking for:
- J.D. with excellent academic credentials
- Membership in at least one state bar (CA preferred)
- 5+ years of commercial litigation experience coupled with substantial experience conducting investigations, either in white-collar practice, criminal trial practice, or an in-house compliance role
- Experience in all aspects of litigation (e.g., brief-writing, legal strategy, discovery, deposition and trial preparation, expert witnesses), including strong writing and editing skills
- Strong communication skills with a demonstrated ability to collaborate well with colleagues
- Ability to interview employees about serious issues while remaining cordial, respectful, and friendly
- Sound judgment on legal and business issues
- Light to moderate travel may be required
