The Electromagnetic Systems division is responsible for the design and development of the Hyperloop Propulsion Motor, Levitation, and Guidance Systems. These systems are all electromechanical in nature and are designed by a highly cross-functional team of exceptional engineers in the areas of Electromagnetics, Mechanical Design, Heat Transfer, Materials Science, Testing, Controls and Embedded Systems, and Electrical System Modeling. We are seeking candidates with broad skillsets and various levels of experience to join our team of qualified, diverse individuals at our Los Angeles facility.

 

RESPONSIBILITIES

The Application Engineer (Motor and Levitation) will be responsible for designing custom tooling and testing rigs for use during the development of all propulsion, levitation, and guidance system components.

  • Creating and maintaining 3D models in Unigraphics NX
  • Working with development, test, and analysis engineers to create detailed component and system models to support fabrication and testing of components and systems
  • Designing systems, mechanisms and components for automated processes
  • Working with and managing external suppliers
  • Create professional CAD, drawings and tolerances
  • Utilizing engineering principals to design complex systems

 

Requirements

  • BS in Engineering or Engineering related field or 5 years of tooling design experience for non-engineering degree
  • Proficiency in Siemens Unigraphics NX 6 or higher
  • At least 2 years of experience in one or more of the following:
  • Aerospace component and system design
  • Broad knowledge of materials and fabrication processes
  • Good knowledge of automated manufacturing techniques
  • Proficient in gaging and inspection techniques
  • GD&T guidelines and best practices
  • Usage of central version control system, such as Teamcenter
  • Experienced at design of one-of-a-kind custom tooling
  • Excellent problem solving skills
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
