The Dos and Don'ts of Pitching to VCs at General Assembly

Fundraising is a grueling process for entrepreneurs and most venture capitalists understand that, or at least try to. Since so much of this industry is based on relationships and reputation, you'll find that the best VCs are often the ones who are most transparent with entrepreneurs. While this is difficult at times, it ultimately grows into healthier entrepreneur/investor relationships, no matter the outcome.

While the typical VC can see thousands of pitches and meet thousands of companies in a given year, the typical entrepreneur is not exposed to the process nearly as often (hopefully). This imbalance leads to an unfavorable advantage where VCs know what they're looking for and how to spot it, but entreprenuers don't always have that understanding. This is why we've paired up with General Assembly to provide a night of the Dos and Don'ts of Pitching to VCs on October 14th. (PS. It's free!)

We will elaborate on the fundraising process from the VC’s perspective, but also share insights into what investors are looking for, how to prepare for pitch meetings, and, more importantly, what not to do when meeting them. We’ll get into specific tips on what to include (and exclude) from your pitch decks all the way to the subtle nuances to be aware of when fundraising.

Students will learn how to stand out to venture capitalists, how the funding process works, and key mistakes to avoid when meeting with VCs. They will leave with a deeper understanding of what VCs look for in meetings and how investment decisions are made, but also have the opportunity to ask any specific questions that they may have for us.

If you haven't already signed up, you can do so here. Looking forward to meeting you all there!
