With 1 Billion Data Points, uSamp is on Fire

Data is hot these days, and it’s unlikely to cool down soon. That’s good news for uSamp, recently named one of Forbes’ most promising companies, who announced this week their accumulation of one billion consumer data points. The amount is big, certainly, but what does it mean?

“Not only does one billion data points speak to the scale of our company, it also emphasizes our capabilities as a tech company, highlighting our robust data base that can support this massive amount of information,” says CEO and co-founder Matt Dusig. By going beyond basic data, uSamp can analyze details such as brand affinity and psychographics to deliver businesses the information they need to understand their customers.

A suite of SaaS solutions gives uSamp the ability to provide detailed feedback from its panel of 12 million people from around the world. To Dusig, this amount of information opens the door for his company to provide “actionable data” to businesses in three ways: precision targeting, real-time insights with mobile responses and surveys tailored to individuals based on their affinities.

We can help consumer packaged goods (CPG) companies trigger real-time mobile offers to their customers as soon as they enter the grocery store,” Dusig says. “We make intelligence accessible.”

Since launching in 2008, uSamp has completed 41,000 market research studies. Prior to that, Dusig worked with co-founder Gregg Lavin to create and sell two other companies in Los Angeles – not surprising, since they were both born and raised here. Dusig says he is committed to fostering entrepreneurship in his city. “The startup community here is constantly innovating, the talent pool is rich, and the business environment is ripe for progressive companies like uSamp,” he says.

With summertime just around the corner, it looks like Los Angeles is getting uSamp’s message: it’s time now to really heat up.
